Bump steer

Hi I have been trying to get my GT40 to stop wandering and get rid of the bump steer at high speeds ,I watched this
and made one up myself and found I had over 15mm bump,I moved the rack up 25mm and got rid of it all, what a difference to drive.Such a simple thing to build with big results

Thanks for the video. One obvious thing that I should know, but didn't think much of when I was doing this same thing with my project, was the caster effect in raising/lowering the steering arm. Obvious when one thinks about it, but was not in my obvious thinking when I did my work.

The gt40 is so light on the front (when we turned the wheels on the alignment machine the pad didn,t move) .I ended up draging my caster way out to 7 deg Pos ,now I can let my hand of the wheel and it just goes as straight as,been a street car I need it safe on the highway,it handles like a modern car now.

You don't have to make it that complicated.
If you shoot the laser 90deg out from the wheel onto a target (sheet of paper).
Draw a centre line on the paper ,pump the wheel up in the working range any deviation off the line is bumpsteer.
Adjust to the minimum amount of deviation.
