Changing a reverse gate

My standard GTD has an R21 gearbox with a cable change.
I'm quite happy to live with the cable change until such a time when I can afford to change to a rod linkage, but would like to change the gate around so first is in the conventional position.
I have some rod ends/rose joints which I hope will take most of the slack out of the change as it is at the moment, but if anyone has changed their shift gate, I would be most grateful to hear any advice or see some pictures.

The easy way is to change the way the gear change rod connects to the stick.If you pivot the stick at say the middle and connect rod to bottom that is one way, but you can also pivot the stick at the bottom and take the rod off a mid point.You just decide when you are designing the new rod system where you want 1st towards you or away.Towards you would be conventional I think.
