crash test documentation?

I have to say hello to everybody on the forum I'm new and this is my first posting.
I have started planning to build a gt40 a Tornado but here in Norway the regulations ask for a documented crash test and that was not so easy for tornado people to give. there was not any. Does any of You out there know something that can help me on this? I do not want to build two cars and let the other be a crash test car!!
I plan to start ordering at end of this year , my vife tell me to only have one hobby so therefore I have to sell my aircraft first + some work with the building we live in. But my work shop is ready and waiting.

i have the same problem here in Italy and is almost impossible to pass that test(believe me...also some ferrari are refused at first trial).
It is really really better for u to buy an assembled one in UK or better...assembly yourself a car at home THEN bring that to UK for a road plate and then replate that as used car in norway.
If u already have an EU car there will be not so many problems in convert that as Norvegian car (here we name those vehicles as UNIQUE car) and so u will not need a crash test.
Crash test are a pain just to see (i saw the funny videos Porsche made at the time of 993 cabrio,dunno if still available on the net..too cool, really)...I believe i cannot survive to see a brand new gt40 shoted against a wall at a speed that for a fibergalss body will be simply devastant.
And u will be not absolutely sure the car will pass that one,also cause they will ask u for low emissions from engine,and really dunno if the Ford 302 will respect those 2005 specs.

If nothing help, I may build a car and bring it to UK for registration and bring it back as a used car. I have to get a clearence before do so, You never know Yust to mention the fees a gt40 with a 5ltr.engine 160KW and weight 1000kg kost in £27000 and that's only for all kind of taxes!!! There is some change on this during the year hopfully . It is not easy to build a kit-car

talking this afternoon with a guy here in Milano, he has to finish a GTD car (the only one here,Mk1 body.The only other italian one was Michele Alboreto's Mk.2 even replica..he says also that one from GTD).
He told me Uk seems the only way to make streetable those cars in countries as our ones. Seems only UK in Europe is the place when u can get a plate for such kind of vehicles.
From what i know..all the other countries of EU does not allow anybody to plate a car as brand new vehicle (first plate and road registration).
Believe me..try ask this to any of your street motor office, and just ask them the taxes u will have importing a car from UK to Norway(do NOT metion u do that...just tell them u have to bring there a vehicle...a generic american engine Ford).
In the forum many guys told the trip to plate a gt40 when they finished that,and i believe that will be not so difficult(I knew anyway also there is not SO easy as some years ago.If I am not wrong u need an injection system on the car..Uk guys surely wellknow that better than me).

And any taxes u will have to pay will be infinite less than destroy a car (and i suppose not passing) during a crash test exam.

I will talk to the guys at the traffic stn. because I belive there is one original and one replica with plates here in Norway.
There have to be some light in the end of the tunnel for us also.

Is there someone on the forum that now of any documentation done on original or replica gt40 how they withstand a crash. They must have done some kind of testing before they start racing with the cars??? . And another Question, does the chassis look almost the same on replicas and original?

and whether it was rebuilt or still exists today?

God knows, there's a lot more left of that test car than

some of the "chassis reconstruction miracles" that have

He is building a great car in Sweden(his town should be not so far from norway), and he KNOWS a lot to help u...believe me, try send him a PM.

Hi Bune,

I contacted Transport Canada here and was fowarded to a testing facility in Quebec for the MDA MKI. After a lengthly discussion, this is what I found out:

1) Testing would cost $45,000 CDN for each distructive run for barrier and passenger intrusion (fuel tanks and other would be preformed at the same time).
2) Two cars would be the minimum to conduct all the tests (both vehicles complete with drivetrain) ($150,000)
3) Airbags must be tested (yeah right - are you serious??) Good luck finding a company that will invest any time or money into a low production vehicle, let alone trying to cram one into the steering boss!
4) If just one of the tests shows a failure (and seeing that frontal impact picture I am glad we didn't go ahead) no CMVSS approval.

I believe all those test are done (rightly) just to oblige todays manifacturer to make safer and even safer vehicles for every day use.Unfortunately seems really will not consider such vehicles as they have to be, replica cars with a very low low mileage and usually drived too carefully by everybody so lucky to have one.
If we all will be honest..all we wellknow the gt40, also in replica, remains even a RACE car from the 60s,and the safety standard was that one(look at the list of the heroic pilots dead or injured in crash from the 60's races to today).
We cannot really even think what will happen if our dream car will be involved in a crash as we see everyday on our streets (trucks...other cars, walls...guard rails..).
I just remind the Simon's gt40 crash and the tale of how that happen.
..and the imagine we have here on our forum of the original mk2 crash tested by Ford let us without any other word(the powder used to simulate fuel..my god..).

We all wellknow they are right.

The cost of the develope of safe cars is really too impressive and also big factory have several problems in homologation of new vehicles.
I had the opportunity to see some Lamborghini coming from crash test (Lamborghini Milano is 2 km from my home)and if u look at what remains....my god...i really dunno how they can make that one streetable.

Are just considerations,also i have the same BIG problem in Italy,cause EU oblige all to make the same (and in USA is even worst than here..)
