Crossovers for 351 vs 302

My understanding is that the original idea behind the crossover exhausts for the 289/302 was to create a vortex in the collectors to assist in scavenging exhaust gases out of the headers. The 351W has a different firing order to the 289/302 so, if the 351 headers are built the same as for a 302 the vortex would actually be in the reverse direction (i.e. clockwise rather then counter-clockwise). To my mind this should make no difference, but, as there are a number of people out there running 351's does anyone have any thoughts on this? Did anyone build their 351 headers differently to reproduce the original counter-clockwise vortex? Just interested as I am building a 351 for my car.

Brian.

Hi Brian

I installed an Edelbrock Street Performer cam
you then end up with the 302 firing order.

The direction of the swirl is irrelevant unless the car is standing on its nose. (And that's dependant on whether the car is north or south of the equator.
