I Googled images for a Datsun 510--looks pretty short to me. You might have a water pump pulley spinning right at your right elbow.
In the 70's there was a company that offered kits to put a SBC in the back seat of a Corvair. Transaxle problems abounded due to the inability to handle the torque from a SBC, but the UN1 might do better in that respect.
If you do go for it, Scott, it will be unique. If someone can stuff a tank motor into a late 60's Mustang, you can surely get a SBF into the back seat of a 510. I, for one, will be watching!!
