Do you think the new Ford GT40 will ever compete in IMSA ?

Whilst having my little disagreement with
Imsa, I got to thinking about the American
LaMans series in IMSA. I was wondering if
Ford would ever do with it as Dodge did with
the viper, or Chevy is doing with the Z06.
I couldn't think of a better way to introduce this car to the racing arena. It
sure wouldn't hurt Ford to build a few for
racing. After all this is a celebration of
the GT40's history. What better way to get
a tremendous interest in this fine car.
If they did this I would be glued to the set
watching every race I could.

It would be great if Ford was interested in racing the new GT40. However, everthing I've read has said that they have no interest in doing that. They say they have nothing to prove. That makes sense. If they win they don't really gain anything. If they lose they lose alot. Potentially.

Of course, that doesn't mean that an enterprising group couldn't race the car on their own. Just look at what Gulf did with the original.

Doug,
You raise a good point. I do hope that
some independant corp. buys a bunch and
races them. That is if they build enough of
them.
