Door Pocket Storage Solutions - Any Good Ideas?

My doors are fitted with the standard Tornado door pockets which are open. I wondered if anyone has found a "luggage net" or anything similar so these areas could be used for storage (usual stuff like wallet, phone, bottle of water etc). I was considering just making a tailored cover for the bottom section, but I think I'd rather have a net type arrangement so I can see whats in there, plus my car is not trimmed out.

Leather door pockets. Attached to aluminium frame. Can use the frame as a handle for door closing.Holds lots of stuff, Very useful as storage in a 40 is very limited.

Thanks Mike, thats a neat solution. I hadn't considered the frame idea, but I had thought that whatever I do, someone will likely try to use it as a door handle!

I quite fancied the net idea as I dont have any other leather trim in the car (apart from the seats), but that looks good.

How did you manufacture the lower frame that is profiled for the door pocket shape?

They remind me of the early MK1 Mini Cooper door pockets which adds a little more storage due to their protruding shape. Nicely done.

Two layers of leather sewed along a plastic strip with a few bolts between to bolt it onto the door pockets.
There's a pen sitting between the two layers. Two layers can sit my phone or papers between.

I removed the pockets and made up some door cards which are covered in leather to match the seats in my SGT. They fix with 6 dzus fasteners with D rings.
Allows for luggage to be stored, and hidden.
We get an overnight bag in each door and a rucksack in the footwell. Enough for a week in France for the 2 of us.

I carpeted the inside of the doors

Added a door cards with c

The whole door becomes storage

make sure the hinges are securely glassed in

I'm liking the idea of the secret storage and the fact that you can get a worthwhile amount in there. Who would have thought youd get enough for 2 for a week in a GT40......

Good advice on the hinges Ian!

My 250 GTE had a pocket in the lower part of each door; they were very handy for storing smaller items. The rear edge of each door had a red light mounted that would turn on if the headlights were switched on and the door was opened. It was a nice safety marker for night time.
