Door Straps

Does anyone have any pictures or designs of door straps for driver and passenger doors ? I have designed some for my Dax, but have not fitted them, because the leather straps I am using, appear to stick out too far. In the case of the drivers side, when the door is shut, they would reach the gear stick.:sad:

At the moment, I have not fitted anything, but am concerned for how far the doors will open, and catch the body.

Have you thought about using some old seatbelt webbing. Nice & light and will fold out of the way. I'm sure the originals used something similar
