Door Trim

Hello,

My name is Bill Cohen and I just joined last week. I own a Ford GT40 2005. I love the car but I have a problem with the rectangular metal trim attached to the interior of both doors. They keep falling off. I have visited several Ford dealerships and some of them have very scary approches to reparing the problem. They have tried several different types of glue but they all fail especially when the weather is cold. Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks,

Bill

Bill, you might try Goop. It is very close to a silicone seal (clear) glue, but I don't think it is silicone. It is available at virtually all hardware stores, etc. It drys somewhat pliable and stays gripped to even glass. It was the only thing that worked to bond my '69 Mustang windows in the regulator tracks. It cleans up easily if you apply too much.

Dear Mark,

Thank you for the tip. I'd rather try the Goop then take the car back to the dealer. I'll get back to you in a few weeks to let you know how well it worked.
Thanks agan. Bill Cohen

Oh Mark one question. How can find members in Miami. It would be great to take the car for a ride with with a few other gts in tow, or out in front, thats OK too.

Regards,

Bill

Bill, another adhesive that might work for you here is 3M 5200. It also stays semi-pliable as well. It is a really, really strong adhesive and will bond in almost any conditions to almost anything. Amazing stuff.

Dear Cliff, Thank you. I will try thre goop first. If that doesnt work I'll try the 3M 5200. I'll let you know how things turn out in a few weeks. Bill
