Driving in Las Vegas

I was lucky enough to stay in and work near Las Vegas for a month last summer. Walking 'The Strip' I was amazed to see the variety of custom vehicles and bikes out 'cruisin' in what I could only refer to as a traffic jam. To pass the time while waiting for the lights to change a few cars and bikes were doing some impressive burnouts /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif, and in the slow moving traffic cars with air suspension were serenely gliding by with one side of the car a foot higher than the other. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif Could it only happen in Las Vegas? I'm sure that in most other places, the local constabulary would want to have a word or two /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Vegas is an interesting place. It's only a 5 hour drive for me, so I go there a lot.

I'll be setting up my corporate headquarters there in the next few months, so I may end up moving there.

I need to stay away from the Casinos because when it comes to gambling, I suck.

I was lucky to have lived there in the mid seventies and Freemont Street was the place to cruise. Back then on Friday nights Freemont Street was almost a parking lot, only a few cars would get through each light. I had a '74 340 Dart sport that I drag raced, we would carry a gallon of bleach and at a light (with no policeman), wet the tires down and do a good burn out. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif When you are 19 life is simple, all you care about is a nice car, hot chick and a couple of dollars.

Earl, I suck at gambling too. I waited until my last day to lose a few dollars. Much more interesting walking around looking at the hotel architecture and taking in a show or whatever. Really good car museum on the 5th floor of one hotel too (forget the name), full of American cars I never saw before, well worth a visit. The Nascar Cafe ride was good too, but you'd need to pay me well to get me on the ride at the top of that tower!
