Experienced UK machine shop for 351C needed

Hi guys,

An acquaintance in England has just purchased a rather special Pantera race car, one with extensive racing history including Le Mans '75, from the Bonhams auction in London in November. He has been accepted for Le Mans Classic this summer but wants to go through the engine.

The problem is, the Ford 351C is a rather special piece of kit, and your average Chevy builder, or even one familiar with the other small-block Fords, is unlikely to know what to do with it. Lots of people (including me, sad to say) are saddled with TERRIBLE 351C engines that were built by 'experts' who are good at what they are good at, but hopeless with the 351C.

So I'm looking on his behalf for some good recommendations for highly experienced shops in the UK that can demonstrate past success building race-spec 351C engines.

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Thanks!

Im not in the UK, but have your friend pick up 'Racing Engine Preperation' by Waddell Wilson on Amazon or Ebay. It was written in the 1970's to cover small block racing engines (a few years after the Big Blocks got the restrictor plates and everyone switched down). It devotes alot of energy explaining the nuances of the 351C including different intake and head torque sequences devised by Ford Engineers for racing engines, cylinder head porting and machining, and block preperation all specific to the 351C.

Thanks I passed it on, one of the vendors on Amazon is in the UK which is helpful!

Still looking for leads on a good, experienced shop though!

HI Mike I don't know what we did without Forums like this. But you have it right on the C motors. You don't what just any shop working on these ( the RAT & MOUSE boys cost Me a lot of good parts ) There is a lot of HP available from these only they have to be together RIGHT to last.
