I got my V6 flywheel back from the machine shop today and the difference between the Ford V8 flywheel that came with my new SVO 302 and the V6 flywheel that was supplied with my GTD kit was 216 grams! YOU MUST REBALLANCE V6 FLYWHEELS BEFORE YOU PUT THEM ON A NEW 50oz BALLANCE FACTOR FORD SVO CRATE MOTOR!!!!!!
I used the orginal SVO flywheel that came with the motor as a standard for this. The machine shop guy said that normal error for a SVO 302 crate motor was about 18-20 grams total.
216 grams is a lot and would have pounded the mains out for sure!
If you do this be sure to take the pressure plate and hardware for it with you along with both flywheels.

Howard,

Thanks for posting the info. Can you remind me, did you have the flywheel balanced alone, or did you pull the crank and/or rods pistons etc & re-balance the whole assembly?

Since I had bought a new SVO crate motor from ford I didn't want to take it apart so I used the flywheel that came installed on the motor from Ford to "mirror ballance" the GTD flywheel. Several people I respect said that this is common except for full on race motors. Mine will be used on the street and with a 6000rpm rev limmit.
