First thoughts on building a GT40......

The thought of rcr gt40 build just came about and already I’m all over the place and haven’t even ordered one yet lol
 
My father in law worked for nyc mta and has every collection of Lionel set since my wife was born in ‘82. after we got married he brought them all over in bins for us to store them‍♂️. most of them still sealed. There’s a pink steam one that one day I’ll open to see how that works lol. Prolly never touch them there buried allready

Mic, you have to be the best dad in the world what a tank!!!!!! (but I bet you had the first go..... just to check safety of course ;-)

If anyone is interested in locomotives, you might take a ride on the Cass Scenic Railroad located in the old lumber mill town of Cass, West Virginia. They run Shay engines (and maybe a Climax) on a line up to the top of Cheat Mountain. It is a fun ride in the summer. Shay engines are unique in that the steam pistons drive a long crankshaft that is geared to all axles so every wheel on a Shay is a driving wheel. These were used for hauling heavy loads of logs up an down mountain grades.
