Gas Mileage?

I know it's a strange question for a GT40 forum, however I'm just curious what sort of mileage these cars turn in. Around town, then cruising out on the highway?

I'm driving a 550+ RWHP Supra which, when driven sensibly, can achieve a max of about 20 MPG, but normally does around 12-15 MPG. It has a 3 litre turbocharged motor, but the car is heavy, weighing in around 3400 lbs.

I would think a '40 would do much better than this, being significantly lighter and (normally) with less power?

You sure about that Tony? There's not a chance it could have been 19.97 or, god help us, 20.01? LOL

Work it out for yourself, Russ - 379 miles on 86.19 litres. You wouldn't be taking the Mickey by chance?:poke:

Yeah, totally tongue in cheek Tony..... I agree that your maths are 100% accurate. I was just wondering about the accuracy of the input figures and hence the accuracy of the final answer.... + or - 0.01mpg

If your speedo was calibrated with new tyres and they're now about half worn then figure a incorrect mileage distance of + 1% skewing the results a massive 0.2 mpg Then there are factors like tyre growth at speed or maybe you're not even running the same tyres the speedo was calibrated with. I'll settle for a practical answer of about 20 mpg. Not bad really, I don't think I'd be able to practice your restraint !

Smiles to the gallon is the real forte of a '40! :-)
