Gmp gt40 models? Why so expensive?

Why is a gmp diecast model of a gt40 so expensive?
saw one the other day for $1600?
Do they have some extreme level of accuracy?

Have a look at EXOTO , The 1966 winners set only 10K, I payed about a thousand years ago.

Exoto do jack up the price when stocks are getting lower. They're usually fairly sensible prices when they are first available. The 1966 set above for instance cost me about £350 not long after introduction. All of my Exoto's have been purchased direct from them or their official e-bay outlet shop. They have always been very helpful with shipping to the UK too.
