gt-40 bodies

i would like to know why manufactures will not sell gt-40 bodies? are they afraid someone will copy the kit? i would like to find a company who would be willing to sell just a body preferably in the usa.

I can't speak for anyone else, but we son't sell a body for 3 reasons:

You're right about the copying thing. We put a lot of extra work in our body, including the inner panels. Hard to do the first time. Easy to copy.

We don't want the body put on an inferior chassis and sold as an ERA. It's the total package, not the body. And our reputation.

We don't want people to be ripped off by someone claiming to sell an ERA body, but actually having a bad copy.

Have to concur with Bob about that.

Try searching the forum for a post by Chris Melia
in the UK. He has GRP bodies available, and they
look pretty durned good. Designed to fit GTDs, I'm
sure others and custom frames can work as well.

thanks for the info. your right about putting a lot of time into building the bodies.i want to make one out of aluminum and want to save alot of time in the buck process. maybe i could find a unfinished kit.
