Glad for your retirement project. Go slow, utilize the lawn-chair time just looking it over to decide how you want to tackle it, and what you want to do with it, and then go. Best of luck, and share the progress with us.

Not exactly the same, but this might provide some inspiration. Very clean build of a Lone Star LS40 chassis/body with a Taurus SHO drivetrain (transverse V8).

Just bought this kit car off eBay. So where to begin? Never owned a mid-engine car. Currently has a VW transaxle. No clue how much HP that can handle. I wanted to drop a 302 in the back. A lot of older mustangs for sale around my area. Was thinking of buying one to use as a donor car. I'm a little overwhelmed and any advice on how you would begin this project would be appreciated...Mike

Car due to arrive mid-July.
Some inspiration!

Not mine, just did a quick search and this video came up - would be cool if there was some more pics of the car, engine etc. Maybe another search?

Some inspiration!

With that much splitter on the front and the lack of a corresponding wing or functional spoiler on the rear, I seriously doubt this car was ever at speed on a racetrack. More of a clutch-smoking stickermobile than a tire smoking racecar.
It’s not beyond hope though...

You take things too seriously.

Kit car finally arrived, gonna start taking measurements and see if I can start fitting it to the Fiero

Been a while. Found a Fiero donor car for $200. Stripped/chopped it down. I'm in the process of mating the body to the frame.

Going to work on the rear next and try my best to copy the attached image. I was thinking about using Corvair tail lights. Any suggestions for the tail lights?

Mike, there are any number of LED round red and amber lights out there on the market in various diameters. Super cheap (enough to double-order for spares if ever needed). Looks like perhaps 2.5-3.0" in diameter.
