In the way to complete my dream i'd like to give a sister for my GTD. I want to build a 917 replica. I found 917 LMK project in Australia, the car seems to be very well finished as the original. The only problem is to find the flat 12 ....

a good flat 6 could be ok however.
Does anybody ever saw a 917 replica or build one ? Thanks for your info.
Bobby Rahal killed me at Le Mans Classic !
Cheers

Fred

Fred,

There is a gentleman from New York, who has
an LMK917. I'm not sure if it is completed and on the road yet, but it should be close.
The guy's name is John Colasante, and he seems like a nice guy. If your search for
(917 Porsche) on this forum, you should be able to find his e-mail address. I'm sure
that he would be more than willing to talk to
you about his car. A 40 and a 917! That would
make a nice addition to any garage!
Good Luck!

Dears,

I had a look on the 917 Forum and saw different advice concerning 917 LMK, it seems to be a great car and now they are rebuilding also a flat 12 with two 6. Crazy guys, i love it and i want one. I had a contact with LMK project, car without engine and gear box is sold nearly 50500 €
ex VAT. I think it really worth it. My 40 can't stay a daughter alone she needs this siter !!!
Special thanks to you Clayton ....

How funny! The 917 was the sister car that I was also looking for my GTD40! Next to each other in Gulf colours would be an awesome sight!

The chap on the 917 forum who has bought one of the LMKs is a GTD club member. I hope to see his car when it touches down in November. Like Fred, I want one of these things. I just need a bigger garage to get the 40, 51 and 917 side by side. E Type too would be good then perhaps the DB4 GT. I dream too much...

Malcolm

PS But it makes sense to have a T car!

Adrian,
Please don,t despair. With modern surgery you can be shortened !!!!!!
Do away with the pedal box ,go auto, hand throttle and use an anchor!!!!! as a cheaper alternative.

Hello Fred and anyone else who maybe interested.I have lots of very detailed pictures and a video of the 917 i have purchased. I am not very computer literate so you must be patient and i will attempt to show them to you all via this steam - driven machine !!! I,ll ask my better half to do it!My conscience is saying to me should we really be talking about 917s on the GT 40 Forum?
Seriously Adrian, you would have problems fitting the 917 but with some carefull alterations a 40 should be no trouble.
Regards
GTA Racing.
