GT40 Turkey Pan Project

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to share a few photos of a turkey pan I was recruited to build for a Superformance GT40 build local to me.

The shop supplied me with a spare intake manifold
to use for the CAD design process.

I ended up hiring a machine shop to probe all the ports and stud locations to make sure it was a perfect fit. They provided me with a 2D CAD drawing that I then used in fusion 360 to add all the sheet metal portions.

We first made a quick prototype to fit on the car to see what changes needed to be made, then made some adjustments to dial it in.

Before I post pictures, I just want to mention this car was absolutely stunning and I was honored just to be in its presence. 100% my dream car so I was very excited to even get an opportunity to build a few small parts for it.

On to the pictures….

This was the supplied Borla Intake.

Now onto the pan itself. This is the flat pattern that was cut on a Haas CNC mill for maximum accuracy.

Now onto the forming..

Here it is with the back piece tacked in place.

First test fit was successful!

Installed with the ITB’s!

We then set the clam shell on and made sure it fit nice with no clearance issues. ( it won’t let me add anymore pictures but I’ll add more below when I get a chance)

I don’t know all the details on this build but happy to answer any questions regarding it and can also get more information on it from the shop who built it if anyone is interested.

Thanks for having a look and again, I can’t express how cool it was to work on this car. They definitely carry a presence like no other vehicle I’ve ever been around.

Have a great day,

Phil.

Very beautiful work. A note - your Blaster 2 coil mounted horizontally - I have been told by some and MSD recommends that coil only be mounted vertically. I have read where they leak. Just and FYI as I have not "tried" mine yet.

Also, how did you convert your rear sway bar to that one?

thanks

Thank you, i appreciate it.

I’m not sure on those details. The car was built at a shop local to me. I just built a couple things for it.
I can ask them about the sway bar and get back to you.

Lee, The job is very nice, but I would be very intersted to see how you manage with the Borla device. On the picture of the Borla, a lot of parts are missing : the 2 gas supply rails are missing, the cable to drive the injectors, and the 3 tubes that go to the pressure sensors in the middle of the top. I have exactly the same Borla injection and I may tell you that the access to all the parts is very tricky already, for excample to adjust the cabstan. With the nice enclosure you propose it will be impossible.
See the photo before I "clean" the path of the cable.

I’m not sure on all of that. Eveything was functional with the turkey pan on the car after it was installed.

That is the "tool room" model bar, it is not a conversion.
