Halibrands ?

Hi all wondered if anybody new where tornado get there 15" Halibrands and pin drive knock ons from ? they want 3 grand a set sounds a bit expensive to me ? hope some one help :)

Hi Helloyes,

Our wheels are US DOT approved as well as being approved to the much more stringent UK and TUV criteria.

All wheels are NOT created equally.

Call Andy Sheldon at TSC, he will be able to clear things up a bit for you.

Cheers,
Scott

It will be intereting to see what you find out Helloyes. Image certainly had a very nice 6 spoke halibrand pin drive on their website a couple of years ago that reasonably faithfully reproduced the look of the original wheels, but this no longer appears on their webpage. The closest thing is a five spoke Halibrand style (called the GTD5) that looks more like a Cobra wheel and appears to not be pin drive. I emailed Image some months back and received a reply saying that they only offered the styles on their current webpage. If they do, in fact, still offer the 6 spoke pin drive with wine-glass style motiff I'm sure there would be plenty of takers. Anyone know where SPF sources their MKII wheels from?

Try Vintage Wheel, a site advertiser. They make some excellent BRMs, I imagine their Halibrands are good as well. The dollar/pound rate favors the UK heavily.

Yes Brian !!
Absolutely !!

Why don't we all chip in and help our one day old member undercut Andy on his prices. A bull's eye on the first throw.
To be fair to Andy, why don't we all do the same to Fran's prices and SPF for that matter.
And then we should all have a go at everybody else on the corporate sponsor's list.

Pretty soon we won't have to do any research at all, except fire a question into the forum and expect an instant answer from someone who HAS done his homework.

Don't expect any assistance from me.

Hi James,

I certainly didn't mean to start a row about wheels or wheel prices. I didn't notice he was a first time poster on the site, missed that. Seemed like a simple solution, if the fellow is looking for some wheels then wheel manufacturers would be a good place to start. I have no idea about Tornado's wheels or source, or Vintage's use the UK and don't mean to cause trouble about it.

Thanks JIMMYMAC.

All,

Last time I checked Vintage Wheels website they were not US DOT, UK, or TUV approved.

Maybe Andy will chime in ....

Best,

Scott

Scott,
The Company in SA that manufactures the Vintage wheel also manufactures ALL of the SPF wheels.....Cobra and GT40...
I recently requested all of the Vintage Wheel DOT/TUV approval paperwork for a couple of my Australian customers....
I will let you know when I receive it.

John Wisher in the UK also offers the wine glass style Halibrand castings
