Hey Gordon, tell us more about RF's upcoming mono-chasisc

Hey Gordon, tell us more about RF\'s upcoming mono-chasisc

I hope my next project will be a GT40 replica, either a CAV or RF, but I really think I want a monocoque (sp?) car rather than one with the space frame. Tell us some pros and cons about both if possible.

I'm happy to hear RF is doing one too, how will it compare to the CAV.... any thoughts?

There are pros and cons of both types of chassis's.
Pro's mono.
Marginally lighter
Repica of original
marginaly stronger
Cons
If you damage it, throw it away and get a new one.
expensive
Over a perion of time it can rust from between the layers of sheet.
Tube chassis Pro's,
Cost effective
With proper design is very strong
Very repairable if damaged
Con's
Tends to be a little heavier
not like original

The RF mono is a very good design as original. It will be built properly and be extremely strong and light. It will be significantly more expensive than the tube chassis car.

David,

Roaring Forties monocoque will NOT be available in kit form when it appears.

I hope to make them almost indistinguishable from the original and if left to owner builders than there would be a high possibility that the specifications would change.

I will keep this forum FULLY briefed with the progress.

Best wishes,

Robert
