Hi everyone from Vancouver BC

The reason why I have joined this group is simply because I think from a early standpoint in my life, the Gt40 is one of the sexiest performance cars to ever be built. My first love with a low slung performance car was at the age of six years old in the early 70s. I saw my very first kit car. I had never seen a kit car or never heard of it. I was in total aww and will never forget that car.

I have a love passion for old cars. Had the opportunity to drive lots of performance sports cars while working as a auto mechanic. We were just lucky we had a account with a exotic used car dealership and we repaired them all. I have driven in some interesting vehicles in my time. One of the more iconic kit cars was the koyote kit car used in the hard castle and Mcormick tv movie from the 1980s. Now this was owned by a resident of Seattle and was converted to electric. Very cool and fun attention getting car. Never ridden in a car that was so low to the ground.

My intention of course, is to buy the replica of the GT40 kit car and complete it some day. If anyone can recomend a supplier of this kit car that would be great! Lastly, I will tell how I came across the all aluminum inline 8 cylinder Duesenburg engine under repair. I will tell more about that story when I get time.

Lastly, how many you are full time mechanics ? Always like to chat about the industry as a whole.

Welcome to the party, James. This is a pretty cool group with a collective knowledge pool that is both wide and deep - I'm sure you'll find yourself right at home!

Both you and Dave may be pleased to know that these is at least one GT40 in your neighborhood, actually located midway between Abbotsford and Vancouver (if your preference in 40s runs towards red with gold stripes, I can promise you're gonna love this one!) and I'm sure he'll reach out to you shortly. If you're a little more determined for an in-person inspection and are up for a trip south, I know of at least 7 cars in the Seattle area (though there could be another one or two), and am sure that most of those owners will welcome your visit and tell you the good and the bad of their particular build.

While I own an RCR and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone, do yourself a favor and have a look at what the others offer. I understand that the Canadian registration requirements run on the tricky side, so it's definitely in your interest to be sure whoever you deal with are acquainted with that red-tape so as to help you avoid some of the hassle. Dave made an excellent suggestion to contact CRC regarding the RCR product; I'd also recommend getting in touch with Ian Clark of CAV Canada, who has been running a GT40 adoption agency for quite some time, and is well acquainted with your registration requirements. As for the other reproduction manufacturers, you'll want to check in with them individually.

I’m not even an hour south of the border. Shoot me a note if you’ll be in the neighborhood and we’ll try to mesh our schedules.

Best,

T.

Welcome James. If you are down in the Seattle area drop me a line. There are about six of us on the road and I'm sure we could arrange a get together.
