I dropped my Nokia

and it smashed the glass. If your phone number was in my phone, I am unable to transfer the contents of the address book to the sim card. I bought a new phone out here on my walkabout (well actually its a visit to the wineries here on the island of Cyprus) but don't have any numbers at all. If you were in my phone address book please send your number to me at [email protected] and I will be able to restore some of my previous address book.
Thanks.
Dave.

Is this actually you, David, or some jealous type impersonating you? One can't be too careful these days, as TS Eliot said. Or something like that.

Jim,
Really, it is me. I did manage to smash my Nokia. I came back on the late flight out of Larnaca last night but its only 24 hours here then back into Europe as far as the Amalfi coast from tomorrow for a couple of weeks. I am collecting a car load of classy Sangiovese di Romagna wine called Millenium Riserve at Guiseppe Marabini's vinyard in Castel Bolognese (http://www.fattoriacamerone.it/new/english/aboutus.php) on the return journey and a few boxes of Nebbiolo di Alba from the Piedmont area or Christmas consumption. Guiseppe tells me his Champagne is superb this year so I'll have to try some. (the house of Grimaldi use it so I guess it could be good) Lastly a few bottles of Barolo. The car can manage an extra 450kg including our luggage.

Sorry to hear you dropped your gnocchi. I'm pulling a bottle of Gaja to mourn your loss. Salute, Cin Cin!

You may be right but they are still in the stores both here and in Cyprus. I went to Turbophone in Marlow and they replaced the glass so it's back in use.

Neal,
I just had a look though my reds and the various Barolos - I am without any Gaja Barolo.
I will put that right next week and quaff a few at the same time.
And joy of all joy I've just been advised we are going to San Domenico in Imola.
What a delight as I think its the best restaurant in the world bar none.

Hello troops,
Just to rub it in I am in a place called Positano on the Amalfi coast with a brilliant hotel room complete with private infinity pool floating around with a glass of Champagne. Tonight we will go to the da Vincenza for dinner. I hear its raining at home.....
We are here until le weekend then its back to Imola and the San Domenico.
Retirement is brilliant.

Actually tha Amalfi Coast is one of my favourite places in the world. Last time we were there we stayed at the Santa Caterina in Amalfi. Highly recommended.
Are you staying at the Sirenuse in Positano?

We move out today back to N Italy, collect a whole load of vino then on to the A1- Ring area of Austria (Zeltweg - Spielberg) for a night then back to Marcus and Susanne's before arriving home next wednesday. Pete, not the Sirenuse though I would return and use the Caterina next time.

Home at last. Two day stop over in Imola to fill the car with wine and Champagne on Saturday and then to watch a GT race on Sunday. I'd forgotten how noisy they are.
Then to Austria (Zeltweg/Spielberg) for some serious Puntigammer, checking out a 350cc Ducati on Sunday then off to Marcus and Suzanne near Stuttgart for some serious liver damage. Now back in Marlow.
