i have the sickness

hi people - yes i have the sickness ......... and it's been there since i can remember. looked through my books, my really old books and the signs are there - books about 917s, gt40s and the remains of a model t70. well ..... the time has come to get this under control, and the only cure is to own a gt40 and a good replica will do it. so i'm looking and learning and i've crawled all over this forum as a guest for a long time now ..... and it's very humbling. great people from all over, great help and assistance and an awesome depth of knowledge! so it's great to be a member at last. unfortunately i'm not in a situation where i can build a car so i'll have too buy ready built but no matter - it'll work just as well

Welcome, Peter. You are in good company here. It does indeed sound like you have contracted "the bug". It's a bit like Malaria, actually, in that you can never be completely cured. You can only treat the symptoms to keep things under control. In our case, that means having a GT40, done to your taste, that will provide you with the necessary periodic "fix". Like you, I needed a turn-key car. Fortunately for guys like us there are terrific options out there for all tastes and budgets. Don't be afraid to ask any question. You'll find the collective experience of this group is a comforting foundation. Get ready to realize, and savor, your dream. I hate to be the bearer of bad news mate but what you've got is a "bug" so strong that you just can't get it out of your system. The sickness you have is not cureable. I've heard you can get a drug called "acceleratisgt40" which is not sold over the counter but has been known to give temporary relief from some of the pangs that will persist in you. This drug along with both aroma therapy by way of V8 exhaust and music played by the well known group "Bundle O' Snakes" will help a huge amount in helping you to deal with your disease. But being a straight shooter I must advise.....you are doomed! My sincere condolences to you and your family. May your soul rest in the seat. A hope its a nicely grommeted one of course.
