If you run 15" tires read this.

I would prefer a tyre company to make tires with a 15" bead dia on the outside With 17"/ 18"/ 20" or whatever on the inside bead. This would give the external classic look but the brake clearance & low sidewall advantages on the inner. Since the inner sidewall carrys a larger percentage of the lateral load in a corner the handling advantages would be there and tyre fitment to the rims would be simpler since you would only have to fit the 15" side as the 17/18 inner would drop over the 15" side of the rim. There would be slight advantage in less likelihood of sidewall damage in driving over kerbs etc as well.

Of course no one will be able to patent it or claim intellectual property etc of the idea now as I have posted it here on a public forum!!!:)

Just as a mute point - I have just got two new Pirelli P Zero 335/35-17's for my '40 - they are rarer than hens teeth in the UK at the mo.

It's a bit difficult to find an image, but they do just that for F1 wheels / tires on 1/5 scale R/C cars - for the exact reasons you mention Jac.

Allen,

Great Idea, so:
235/50/15 for the front would give the correct tire diameter. you should make shure that the thread width is not too small ( like on the AVON's where on the 215 the thread width is just 185 mm and on the 295 the thread width is just 255).
For the back two options would be great. Of course 295/50/15 for 10" wheels and something like 355/40/15 for the guys with 12" -14" wheels.
H Rating is IMHO totally nonsens. THis cars perform and if there is the effort of making a new tire, it should be able to keep up with it, so ZR Rating should be a nobrainer.
Also the use of modern silica compounds, rather tuned towards grip instead of longlivety ( 8 - 10 000 mls on this cars would be already a good job, otherwise the get to old anyway).
Last but not least, shoot for a decent looking period correct profile.

If all of this is taken account, i herewith order.

Thanks
TOM
