maybe I am wrong....but isnt a little dangerous to cover engine exhaust that way?

Special header wrap. Should be OK. Designed to stop heat transfer, but has the disadvantage of increasing header temperatures. Some would say causes premature failure of the exhaust system.

that looks to be proper exhaust wrap, keeps the temperature down under the rear clip, also, (I think?), supposed to give a bit more HP with faster exhaust gasses. Someone more knowledgable will surely put me right if not.!
