I dunno much more now, seems anyway an HEAVY crash, done due to too happy driving...

Believe me guys..is REALLY a shame to see such car destroyed..a LOOOT more than the little damage simon did to his nice blue one.

I use to help safety officiers in Monza track during events(usually i choose the ones i like more, and avoid at all Formula one..)
I am one of that fool guys u see in television dressed in orange with yellow flags, that spend all the weekend looking others enjoying, and always looking them do not kill themself during those funny times.
I was In Lesmo turns (the 2 north turns of Monza track) the week before this happened.
Almost all the track is perfect just for Formula one cars, cause all the turns there are really TOO "closed" and always oblige the driver to use the lowest gear and make the hardest brake u can do.
The friends that see this crash reported the Ford Gt had a sort of wheeling exiting one of those Lesmo turns.
In that point of the track (surely many of u wellknow this) the guard rail is very near to the track(they use just to consider the direction OUT of the turns..never inside)and the GT crashed in that point.(no way for them to save some pieces of the destroyed car..cause a Tv camera is always pointed, also if maybe not turned on..LOL) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
All the guys are so use to see supercars crashed(in Monza we already have an upcoming new M5 destroyed..LOL)and so for them was not such big surprise.

Add to all this the magazine journalists feel usually as great pilots even when they test bikes or cars, and seems the Ford GT in extreme driving is absolutely not so easy as too many todays sports cars are(if u see Lotus Elises in that points....they seem at all as Go karts..really..)

A shame anyway,
The car was exacly the one of Paul's pics.

Hi Paul

Looks like this was a Ford demo car. It was the subject of an article in the February edition of "EVO" magazine. The journalists decided it would be a good idea to drive it to Modena, Italy and park it outside the Ferrari works front gate!
They did report that on the handling side, it exhibited slight understeer. But, this is a warning of rapid transition to oversteer which "Doesn't suffer fools".

Looks like it has had it's last opposite lock moment!

Regards

I received an email from Germany on 29th March to say that one of the UK-registered press cars had been heavily crashed by an Italian journalist at Monza. No details re the damage but it was considerable. It delayed a planned trip by an American freelance journalist who planned to drive around the UK and Europe with it.
