just wanted to introduce myself

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to take a moment of your time and introduce myself. My name is Geoff Barbieri and im a police officer in Indianapolis, IN. I have dreaming of building a GT-40 for some time now, I've spent the last year or so researching the different manufacturers and deciding how I want to build the car. I would like to take concrete steps in making a purchase by next spring or summer. The last several days I've been been glued to the computer since I found this forum....Ive gotten so much more info in the last few days than I have in the last year. Thanks for asnwering all the questions I didnt know I even had. Im sure that I will begin asking many more myself as I get closer to taking the final steps in purchasing a project.

I agree, some of the experiences other builders have shared have been very helpful in guiding me. My expectations have changed drastically, and must now adjust my financial budget and timline. Although I was at first somewhat disappointed that the project would be so expensive and time consuming, I now have a more realistic idea of what is required thanks to all of the helpful information Ive been able to extract from this forum.

Just wondering, are there any GT-40 builders/owners in or around Indiana?

Thanx,
Geoff

Hi Geoff,
Welcome to the forum. I live in Louisville,Ky. and own a RF. We are presently waiting for a Mark ll that we will be working on over the next several months. It will be powered by a 427 big block. We are at Puttman Park Road Race Course two to three times during the summer. Puttman is just outside Indianapolis. It is a great place to see these cars in action. I might suggest the 40th. anniversary of the Mustang held at Nashville Super Speedway. This will be a huge car show and track event. We will be there and I am sure there will be GTD or a CAV or two. We also have the RF on displace at Carl Casper Car Show in mid February. If I could be any assistance let me know. My number is 502-368-5795

I will have my GT40 at Nashville and have registered for track time, but.... Not in the GT40. They are only letting mustangs on the track. I will also bring my Mustang and run it around. CAV will have a bay in the garage for anyone to take a look at some of our cars. I expect we will have two there. I have also registed for the Shelby Convention at Michigan International Speedway including track time and garage. They both should be fun and encourage other GT40 nuts to bring their wares.

Geoff,

Welcome to the forum. I hope you do fulfill your GT40 dreams next year. There are several great manufacturers out there that, if you can afford them, they're worth it.

I'm building a MKI on a Pantera chassi. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Have fun!

John
