Le Mans 24 H race is nice if you are walking around the track all the night.
Nobody cares about the race, everybody drunk, one different party every 20 meters.
The interest for the race is for the first and last 2 hours.
This is Le Mans ACO 24 H. And believe, it is not bad at all. Only negative thing, it becomes every year more and more sofisticated and expensive. I hope it will not become an endurance F1 race.
When I was there, in 1994, when Jochen Dauer won the race with a 962, there still was the possibility to compete. Our Bugatti EB110SS, 90% original street car wasn't bad at all, until thanks to the air restrictors, the turbos, one after the other blowed up. 4 turbos. 5 hours in the box. Returned in the race we was still in a permitted position. New target....finish the race.....it is not for everybody. 2 Toyotas where blowing a gearbox every hour 50 min. The car was designed for the replacement of the complete rear train in 4 minutes. We was racing with the road synchronised gearbox. Never mind. After 23h42min the youngest driver, Jean Christophe Bouillon, 18 years old at the time, decide to overtake a Viper driven by René Arnoux in a chicane.....a veteran. What do you think it happend??? Our young driver flying into a wall, distroying all the front of the car. Race finished. 18 minutes before the end. 3 bottles of Champagne were already unsecured and the tao was holded in by force.
This is also Le Mans.
