Locost GT40

this is my budget build escort, cost 2k, insured for 9k
not a standard escort, but what i like! the gt will be similar, modern yet classic (and a lot more 2nd hand parts)
IT CAN BE DONE:thumbsup:

Nothing shabby about your escort. My daily beater is a Hyundai Sport Coupe (2000)
with a few tuner mod's. Cheap and fun.

been offered a screen cheap today, but it's from a mk 1 and my body is a mk2, i'm not 100% sure of the make of my spider, think gtd and i don't know the make of the mk 1.
does anybody know what makes/models used the same screen? as i've heard some screens don't fit others. cheers, glen

:idea:i bought the c5 uprights, hub carriers, upper arms and new lower balljoints, he had the lower arms and is holding them for me (so i can do some research, i.e. you guys)
the whole set up is from a mosler gt car that is being broken, although all the front set up that i have is n.o.s.
my chassis plans look like gtd with front susp mounts parallel to centre line of chassis, should be easy to re ajust chassis to suit.
it's the rear's that bother me!
if i go for c5 rears, then i'll have a usable set up for not much money (seems i can bolt up audi cv's to c5rear stubs, same pcd. then use audi drive shafts that just "fit". its just the weird pcd and offset that puts me off this route)
or granada front uprights and southerngt rear uprights that free's up cheap period wheels, but i know nothing as i'm still learning!!
got my 40x40 delivered today so i need as much input as i can get from you lot before i start welding

nothing to take pics of yet! although i did get mk3 granada uprights (need top hat) with hubs and new discs (from a 24v) tonight for £10:stunned:
heres my body

sorry about size.
audi box on it's way
got tb's and ecu
some b****** outbid me on wheels last night (i know you're reading this!!) ha ha

(now selling the c5 n.o.s set up, anyone?)
1 month in and i think it's going ok!

i've got the metal for the chassis, hopefully build a platform on one of the jigs at work on sat. i like black and gold but black will show up every imperfection and this is supposed to be cheap and cheerful:shy:. maybe diamond white with diagonal rs200 stripes (i know...but it's my car!!)
similar to my escort

remember, it's no le mans replica!

Molleur is right. It is yours. I like white. Watch for spring in your chassis as you weld it up. I like Russ Noble's welding jig. The concrete is hard on the knees. Best of Luck keep on posting

i know about the mis-shaping in welding:sad:, i'll build my chassis on a car-o-liner jig, and pull into shape before any triangulation is welded in, i aim to get it within 2-3mm:thumbsup: the jigs are well handy!

:thumbsup:well, today i made a start, tacked the base of the chassis together, measuring corner to corner, it is 1 mm out! ok for a locost, wanted to carry on but we was already 5 hrs late! boss had to lock up as he was going out tonight!
i'll se if i can load up some pics

did some more chassis welding tonight, i've got no time scale to work to yet i feel like i'm falling behind (if that makes sence)!! picked my wheels up saturday 5hr drive so no welding done this week-end. friday is wheels day in aldershot, taking my kooltina and hope to see some gt's, old skool ford meet at box hill on sat and my band has gigs for the next few week-ends so it looks like i'm restricted to evenings after work for a few weeks!
