Mark I or Mark II?

Easy question...you should choose whichever you prefer
since it's your car ! If you have no preference,
the MK I is more authentic with the small block
than an MK II with a small block. However if you really
prefer the MK II body, go for it.

IMHO, using a small block would not significantly affect the
resale value (vs an MK I body) should the time come to sell.

Everything said so far is right on. Also consider that rearward vision is bad in any GT40, but it is really bad in the MKll.

MK I unless you're putting a big block in the car. RF has a MKII option, as does ERA, and it appears that Superformance's car will be a MKII on the first version as well. Ron

I just set up my review and side mirrors on my Mk I with EFI. The significance of the EFI is that I have nothing above the rear deck. My field of rearward vision is great! There is one little blank area that is about 4" wide at 4 feet behind the car on the passenger side. (I put tape markers on the inside of the garage door which was 4 feet behind the car.) I should mention that I have a standard 8" rearview mirror (NAPA) and Vitilloni Califonian side mirrors which are relatively small.

Point being that the rearward visibility is not horrible on ALL GT40s :-)

My fav is the Mk 1, but i think the Mk 2 shape is pretty kool, but if i had a Mk 2 i would think of it as a "race car" and probably mainly use it on a track, where i think it is best suited

MDA also makes the MKII, Mark has two at his shop. Depends on how much you like your next door neighbour? Firing up a 427 with no silencers at 5:00AM would be they way I'd go but... my neighbours don't like me much- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Hi Mike, we have a Roaring Forties Mark l and Mark ll, here in Louisville Ky. We will be happy to show you at any time either one of these cars. Big consideration with the Mark ll, purchase price and high cost of 427 or 428. The Mark l with a 016 quaif locker with 302 or small stroker motor, is a much easier to build. Good Luck

I like the Mark I with the single nostril front and the wider flared rear fenders! = ) Hope to have one someday...
