New Member from Surrey,UK.

This is my first posting on the Forum since becoming a member recently.

For more years than I care to remember, I have loved the (now iconic) GT40. Knowing I would never be able to afford an original I started seriously looking at replicas. Should I build or buy one already on the road? I have seen such excellent build quality yet had been told the number of years it could take to get the car on the road.Having subsequently seen the Construction Manual I know I took the right decision to buy one already on the road!!!

So here I am now the owner of a Tornado TS40, powered by a Ford 302 with Renault 21 Turbo transmission.

I have been a member of a well known enthusiasts club too for a couple of years and in that time I have found all the members incredibly friendly and knowledgeable.Of most benefit, of course, is all these members are more than willing to pass on their knowledge and assist where they can. Also this Forum is amazing - again showing the depth of knowledge and help from around the world.

Best wishes

John

Hi John - and welcome to the Forum.... whereabouts in Surrey are you? I'm about 3 drivers, a three wood and a decent four iron from Chiddingfold - so if you ever see a red GT whizzing about, it's me. :)

Welcome John!

I can confirm John's credintials - I am sure in some of my Dax Build photos John can be seen - stopped in on a few occasions to lend a hand really appreciated - thanks again.

Good luck with the few niggles and bits you have found that need sorting and I am sure if you have queries people here will advise and keep you on the right track.

cheers
Ian

HI John,

Welcome to the real world of "if you can dream about it, you can do it".

I just came back from UK and spent 2 days at Frank Catts's place in Hailsham.

I suggest you give him a ring (he is a member on the site), and I am sure he will be very helpfull in giving you advise when necessary.

Good luck

Fred

Thanks to all.

Neil - that explains it. I live in Cranleigh and one of the local shop owners swears he saw me on the road but at the time and place he mentioned I wasn't in my car at all. Mine is red too (with white stripe ) so it was you he probably saw. So if you see a red one whizzing around it could be me !

Ian - Still look forward to seeing your car again. In the event see you probably tomorrow at The Fairmile.

Fred - I was introduced to Frank at Goodwood on the GTD Track Day recently. Great guy with a wealth of knowledge. No doubt I'll be in contact with him sometime.

Regards.

John

Hi John, its me from the other End of Cranleigh. (assuming your the chap I've chatted to about Porsches before now).
Congrats.
Looking forward to seeing your car at the fairmile tonight :)

John, it would have been me then! I have some friends in Cranleigh and have been over a few times in the GT.... there's a part of getting into Cranleigh that is moderately 'heart in the mouth' width!

Next time there's an event we're both going to, we should go in convoy... It's quite enjoyable seeing 'your' car either in front or behind you...

It seems like Cranleigh is the new epicentre for GT40's Niggles.....Niggles.......What.......Niggles !!!!
