Newbie to the GT40 world

I am have been looking and reading on the GT40.. First one, whether real or not was in 1983 at Laguna Seca. Ford was honored for the historical automobile that year. Not sure if it was part of Pebble Beach events. But ,I saw Carrol Shelby, as he sat on the back of a 500KR , and saw many Fords.
