original 289 distributor

The original dizzy used on the Mk I has a side oil wick feed for the dizzy shaft, was the aluminium casing close at the top or did it have the bracket and hole to accomodate a vaccuum advance?
(the attached picture would have the bracket and hole on the non-visible side)
Any pics would help as I'm trying to source one.

Not quite sure what you need but I've got two 289 disis, one Autolite, one Fomoco both with bolt on vac, neither with oil wick. If they are any good to you you can have them.
We did have an oil wick one off an old 5 bolt 289 but with vac, I gave it to a local chap with a Mustang for spares, I am certain he will still have it, I can get it back if any use.
Mike.

PS. Andy's engine will be ready this week so need to talk to you about your block and I can't find your 'phone number.

PPS. Our 'phone is acting up so if you can't get through, keep trying.

James-
I'm familiar with the 64-1/2 FoMoCo dist. with the capped oiler but I've never seen the one in your photo before. Do you know who the manufacturer was?

Thanks James I remember you posting that but thought it had been deleted. Is it an early transistorised dizzy or is the extra 'lump' for a tacho drive...

That particular distributor is a Ford special. (XF part number).
The casting was used for both transistorised and dual point systems and the "lump" contains the screw gear and connection for a tacho drive.

Doc,

If you're still trying to source an early HIPO oiler dual point, drop me a line. I have an original C30F-12127-D, and a bunch of other HIPO engine parts, been looking to trade.
