Rear Deck Supports

I have just had to get a new exhaust fitted after my Catts died due to excess heat, as you can see from the picture there is not a lot of room for a Gas Strut or similar, but I do want to be able to open and close the rear that it will stay up. Any suggestions please.

can you attach wire cable supports off the top of the rear shock bolts?

lookig at your rear bracket above the gearbox too fabricate a cable sytem of that too,the gtd had cable or scissor design steel folding but your cans sit their path.

I was thinking of finding a place for the folding scissor style hinge. That way it will over center and lock. The wind wouldn’t be able to blow it shut on you. It would be tight but worth looking into.

Any concern with that chain fouling with the rotating axle? Perhaps a spring to pull it taught when clam is closed?

Blas, I'm pretty sure that's temporary. It's hooked around one of the header primary tubes.

While I don't have my car yet, I was thinking about using a modified collapsable carbon fiber walking stick as a prop to keep clam open. Folds to a very small size and weighs nothing.

Thanks for your ideas, yes the chain is round the header pipe, this was put there by the Exhaust Fabricator as he needed the deck on to ensure that nothing was fouling on what he built.

One way to support a door, clamshell, or open panel is to use a spring- simple, cheap, and reliable. If you use a long extension coil spring.that is intended for extension only, its coils will be packed together tightly. so it cannot be compressed. Using its length as a support is automatic as the door opens, it straightens out and becomes a fixed support for the weight of the door. To close the door, it is only necessary to push the spring slightly sideways to allow it to collapse , forming a shape with the letter "C". A marine hatch support with a stainless steel spring is ideal.
