Roaring Forties to offer basic kits in US

Robert Logan

Defunct Manufactuer - Old RF Company
Roaring Forties will this week offer a basic body chassis kit for sale in the US. The kit will cost US $ 10,500 and all components to complete your GT40 replica will be also offered for sale seperately through our US agent Gordon Levy at [email protected] .

All prices quoted will include shipping from Australia to the US and all import taxes paid.

Most parts will also be made available to non Roaring Forties owners but this will be on the strict understanding that their reproduction is NOT permitted.

Please contact Gordon for details.

Best wishes and Happy Easter,

Robert Logan

I checked the web site and found no description of the "basic body chassis". So what's included?

This IS good news. I need several odds and ends to complete my project and would prefer to source them all from the same vendor. I was impressed with the quality of the components that Ron Earp received and the comments from RF customers. I only wish I had listned to Ken Saunders 3 years ago when he told me about this new Australian GT40 startup called Roaring Forties who were looking for a foot hold in the US market! Gordon, you will be hearing from me!

I agree that this is a good move. It's good for potential GT40 builders because one of the nicer cars can now be built without the need for an initial $42,000 outlay, which is, I believe, the second most expensive GT40 kit option after ERA. It's good for RF because I think they'll attract more customers.

I hope that RF will choose not to place a surcharge on partial kits, and that the total cost to build one of their kits will not be more than the cost of a complete kit.

My rough math shows that if you buy the Body/Chassis kit for $10,500 and purchase the parts from Levy Racing to finish as needed, it will cost over $57,000 just for the parts.

The price of the complete kit is only $42,000, a difference of $15,000. Of course, this does include all taxes, duty and freight into the states.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Blaine,

I think the maths is not correct. The cost is varient on the specifications that you choose and the $ 42000 deal will still stand. I worked it out at about $ 50000 for all the bits included in the original delux kit and the difference will be shipping and taxes.

Please contact Gordon to clear up this.

Best wishes,

Robert Logan

I agree. I did the math last night and it was
pretty close to what you calculated.
It makes sense since the Price List included packing, freight, import duties in the price.
Obviously if RF has to ship each part seperately, the cost should be higher.

I would also think that there would be some cost savings on any loose parts ordered with the basic kit since the shipping costs
would be included in the basic kit.

Bottom line is that you've made it possible for customers to build your car in steps over time, and for that we thank you!

I put all the pricing in a spread sheet and the * items come to $39,899. Add the Basic Kit and you get a total of $50,399. This compares to an aproximate price of the Deluxe Kit of $46,000 delivered in US. The difference is less than 10%. This is very fair and offers a good opertunity for someone to build over time without much of a cost penalty.

Most of you know that I got my deluxe
pallet kit from Roaring Forties last August.
The single most impressive thing you
will notice about this kit is the total
quality of all the parts. The frames is
a work of art, the fiberglass is the best
I've worked with. All the componants like,
shocks, brakes, gauges, and all the other
bits are name brand first rate stuff.
Not one single item is second rate.
I think some of the other kits you
would have to pay alot more to up grade to what you get with this one.
Every time I open a box I'm still amazed
after seven months of building. I know this
is pretty high praise but you gotta give
credit where credit is due. Robert Logan
has hit on a winning combo and I hope
he continues. I'm very happy to see that he
is now selling starter kits. This should
work well for him and Gordon Levy not
to mention the future customers.
Robert Logan, you have to be a bonified
car nut to build a car like this.

I'm real glad you are.

Robert and Jay,

I stand corrected. I compiled my own Excel spreadsheet this morning and came up with about $50,000 myself. Very fair.

Sorry about the confusion.

Your friend,

Hersh,
I'll second that. This has been a blast. The car is great Robert you and the car are top notch, and Hershal, well you know I'm loving every minute of it-ok not the sanding but..
Thank you both for being car freaks!

Blaine,

Sorry for the heart murmer and glad to see that all adds up. Gordon looks forward to your order but please feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions.

Hershal & John,

Thank you again for all your kind words. I am glad that you are both having one of those "Zen" feelings with our build.

To all'

The delux kit will still remain at the price of US $ 42,000.00 + shipping and Taxes but the basic kit allows access to all. I am glad also to see that everybody understands to reason for the slight reduction in cost for the delux kit.

Best wishes,

Robert
