Ron McCall rebuilding ZF’s

I just wanted to make a post praising Ron McCall and his rebuilding service for the ZF transaxle. Everyone on here pretty much knows from others that Ron is the person to send your ZF to. I got the pleasure of driving down to his shop a couple of times and saw the piles of ZFs and parts plus all the gorgeous Panteras he had in there. Now my real praise for him came this week. I had gotten my ZF gone through and painted by ROn to make sure everything was 100% before throwing it in. That was at least a year ago and life and other projects got in the way and I’m just back to working on the 40. As I got the trans mated up this week I noticed the tag for the ZF was missing off the case. I knew I had it on there when I brought it down so I fugured Ron removed when he cleaned and painted the case when he disassembled it. Unfortunately I didnt notice when I had picked it up. Taking a chance I reached out to Ron and asked if maybe he had it laying around. Luckily I had pictures of it and my ZF before I got it rebuilt so I sent him a picture of the tag so he could match up the serial number. I figured it was a longshot but he got back to me the next day and found it in his shop and is shipping it back up to me!! That’s going out of your way to help someone when he really didnt need to. Just wanted to return the favor and remind everyone to us Ron McCall for any ZF needs!!!

Pat,
Any time I blast or coat a trans,I remove the ID tag to prevent damage. I then reattach the tag once the
trans is completed. Yours is a 10xxx serial # so the tag is attached to the main case and not the shift housing cover.
They are quite a bit more difficult to reattach to the case than the shift housing cover. I'm not sure why I didn't return it
to you but I'm glad that I could get it back to you !

Ron is a #1 class act, and the guy to go to for any ZF work. I recently had the pleasure to meet both Ron and his wife when I went there to have the 5th gear ratio in my ZF changed. I was initially worried about the modification's time frame when I delivered my ZF and saw the number of transmissions on the floor awaiting some sort of fix. To my surprise, the work was done in less than 2 weeks. His shop is meticulous and communication through the whole process was outstanding. Double 'thumbs up' for McCall's Transmissions!
