Rover V8 Dimensions vs 302

I'm trying to work out if my chassis (which is of unknown make) will take a 302. It currently has a Rover V8. Has anyone done any analysis or in a position to give me an opinion on how each compares on length, height & width?

I don't know anyone nearby with a 302, so it's kinda difficult.

Ford 302 is going to fit easily as dimensionally the Rover is longer, wider & higher . There may be a couple of points around the bell housing that protrude outside the Rover envelope and the Water pump pulley nose might be slightly longer, but thats about all.

Thanks Jac - that sounds good. I'd really like to be able to do this, and hopefully without too much (or any!) chassis chopping! The Rovers a good engine and its new - its just not a Ford if you know what I mean.

Dave......my jaw has just dropped.........CATCHART! I used to live in Queens Park and spent my entire life on the south side! I would have bet money against there being another one anywhere near me. Amazing really these web forums.......

I'd definitely like to take you up on the offer of having a look. Unfortunately this weekend I am going up north for short break (Thursday until Sunday night). I will be around up until then or all of the following week. Where do you live? I'm in Stewarton, just down the A77. Your always welcome for a coffee and a chat if you are out for a run. My friends and I have a few other replicas here also (3 Lancia Stratos, 5 Duttons, 1 Cobra) so there's some stuff to look at!

I'm still in shock..........
