Everyone, here are my first impressions with the SLC.
You will have to keep in mind that this is the first time that I have driven this car, first time I've driven at that track and the first time I've driven a left hand drive car. I'm not a professional driver, just someone who likes building cars and driving in club racing events, like Run'n'Gun.
This was the first track outing for the SLC which was built as a road car with road car setup, so its performance at this event was a credit to Fran and his guys.
The SLC was very easy to drive and accomodated me easily (I'm 6'2"). In the cobras and the GT40 its always been a tight fit. Pedal position was good, plenty of space for heal/toe or left foot brake. The steering has a electric adjustment, which allows the driver to get it just right, for track work a bit closer than you would run it on the street.
I was blown away with the handling of the SLC. Its runs very flat, even in high G corners, but isn't harsh in ride with the road going springs in. It provided very good initial turn in grip, well balanced, with some push on exiting the corners which made it quite easy to drive fast. There was masive rear grip, with with the power of the LS7 (stock) pushing it along.
This was also the first time I've driven a car with a LS7 in it. Its a great motor which has the low down torque of a big block as you would expect, but revs as well and it sounds just great, couldn't get enough of that exhaust note.
These are just some quick thought as I'm still travelling, will be back in Aus on the weekend. I should also thank Fran (RCR) for oportunity of a lifetime and also thank the organisers of Run'n'Gun for running a succesful and very friendly event (always someone willing to lend a hand, or point out which side of the car to get into).
John White.
