Hi guys,
There is a GT40 of dubious ancestry for sale at VdV Grant in Brussels, Belgium. A friend of mine ran a high-end exotic and vintage race workshop in Brussels (GTM, Guy Trigaux Motorsport) and when I first went there back in 2002, he was working on this car
It looked to be the genuine article, and wore the serial number GT/111, but he told me that it was a fake--that is, it wasn't an original 1960s GT40, but rather (probably) a Safir. It was also equipped with a 351W. (The real GT/111 is the Spyder that was thought to have been destroyed after a bad wreck, but whose chassis was recently discovered in a lockup and comprehensively restored).
The faux GT/111 car is now listed on the VdV Grant website, advertised as 'probably' a Safir. In any case, it looks like a terrific car!
