SCAMS GALORE

I suppose i could have toned it down a little. I am old school also-and where i come from if somebody Rips you off like this especially for alot of money I call them what they are. Im sorry if that offended anybody. I just hope nobody else gets scammed by these #^&*(bags

Any time I post a WTB thread on here I get inundated with a bunch of scammers all saying the same line:
'
Hello Mate ,

Contact Dave he's has one he's willing to part with at a fair price. Pm him [email protected]
'
(Dave and the email change every time, but the body of the message does not)

But if you respond to somebody who has 0-1 posts telling you to totally send this random stranger a bunch of money with no uniquely tagged pictures/etc., you're asking to be scammed.

Oh look, case in point.

I bumped my WTB Digidash 2 pro post and within 5 hours I got this wonderful PM in my inbox.

"
Hello, Mathew has been trying to part out with his ETB Digidash 2 Pro and it's in excellent condition.. I'll suggest that you should contact him to know if it's still available. His email is: [email protected]
"

That was so nice of the guy to register on the forum just to tell me about the part his friend has!

All,
I am Ben Hedrick and NOT HeNdrick (HSS-HedrickBen) and I did NOT scam Mark Coulter or anyone else here or anywhere for that matter! Mark misspelled my name and contacted me via direct message and accused me of scamming him there too. When he did "figure" out that he was wrong, he apologized and said he'd set the record straight on the forums, but clearly that didn't happen.

I've scammed NO ONE! I wouldn't scam ANYONE!

Thanks, Ben Hedrick

Ben, There were other posts that were removed from this thread and one of them Mark came out and told the truth about how they used your photo's and did state that you did not scam him. It was at about post number 10 and 14. Thanks for what items you offer without worries.

Incorrect. No posts have been removed. You must be thinking about this (very similar) thread ::

Peter I can not vouch for this person, but I do see a Mark Winkleman in Texas. What I am seeing doesn’t look like the same kind of racing however. I’ll put up the (2) links I found, and there is a phone number in one of them. There was (3) links found, but one of them (Dun and Bradstreet) keeps coming up with a error when I try to link it. Do a Google search and you can find it. I think Howard Jones is in Texas as well and might be able to shed some light on this also. Whatever you do, don’t part with any money until it can be verified.

Hi brian.thanks for your search.now i am not so shure it is a scam.but baja racing to me looks quite different to the fvc/bda engines and also i an not shure about the hewland gearboxes.however,i dont trust this sale and will not go any further.
Thank you for your time
Petr

I'm going to see about activating the requirement that users need to have a minimum number of posts to use private messages. I don't see any reason for brand new members to need private messages - why would they? They are new and don't know many people. Forcing new people to communicate in the open offers needed transparency.

I can't seem to find that option in this software. VB definitely had it. I need to check online and see what I'm missing as I'm sure this feature exists.

I suspect it is done via a plugin, it's not in the core Xenforo code. Take a look at the add-on "Conversation Permissions"

The sender must have so many posts before using the Conversation feature. It also allows him to start a conversation with an admin only while the restriction is in force
