I know a guy that bought a CHP 347 and it proceded to destroy it's own crank.
I don't know if it was an instalation error, or a problam with the Chinese crank that CHP used.
This, together with several other stories have convinced me that the only way to make sure your engine is properly built is to double check every thing or build it yourself.
While mass produced crate engines may offer more features per dollar, they are usually not much cheaper than finding a competent engine builder to do the hard stuff and then assemble it yourself.
The only other advantage of a crate motor is that you don't have to wait as long. I can afford to wait, so I'm doing it myself.
