Terrorist attack in Nice.

Your error here my friend is to assume that we hate Muslims full stop. We don't. However, we (and I think I speak for the majority here) need to see proactive action from the Muslim community to weed out this cancer in their midst.

The German/Nazi analogy is a valid comparison.

Jeff, if you are attacked "in the name of Islam" how do you respond? What are your solutions? You are fond of throwing down challenges and almost everyone who doesn't live in the Smokey Mountains understands the nuances despite your constant attempts to prove or suggest otherwise. We are not stupid, racist or insensitive believe it or not. From your lofty self appointed position of forum "Minister of Truth" share with us your thoughts on a future strategy to tackle this alarming escalation of violence.

Over to you....

Jeff lives in Raleigh, NC. That is ~4 hours east of the Smokey's and Blue Ridge Mountains. The Raleigh-Durham area is a large center of Progressives/Liberals. He visits the mountains. Western NC is still very conservative except for pockets (Asheville) of Left wingers who moved here from outside of the area to make it like the place they came from.

My solution is to start with Syria, and not to import those problems from the areas who would like to do all non-believers harm. There is no appeasement for the problem and it will take help from those who do not want to help themselves. They need motovation.

Thanks for the info Grady. From my time in Alabama, I was assuming that parts of the Smokey Mountains were inhabited by people who grew stuff, distilled stuff, played banjos and made people disappear for a 'C' note. Did I get that wrong? If so, I unrelievedly apologise to all the law abiding fine upstanding citizens of that spectacular area of natural beauty..Or perhaps they just shoot at road signs.. :)

That is the area of Northern Georgia your thinking of Keith. However we do play music (with stringed instruments), sing music/ballads (from Scotland, Ireland, and England) that can be traced back 320 or so years ago. Also 'Bluegrass' with the 'High Lonesome' sound. Every Saturday night in the summer you can come down the the Buncombe County Courthouse plaza and listen local talent play and entertain the crowd. Some first class old time storytellers also appear. And yes they did learn to make whiskey in Europe. For the most part, the core of humanity here have good common sense and know right from wrong. The distillery of fine spirits, beer making (over 20 plus in Asheville), and wine production is big business. Oh and the Cherokees (American Indian tribe) are thriving with their casinos/hotels in the Smokey Mountains. The Great Smokey Mountain National Park is the most visited NP in the US.

Did you know that on the coast (Lost Colony area), the people speak with an English dialect and words from the late 1500s? Just keeps on going from generation.

I have not seen any signs with bullet holes in a long time....too large of a target and not that much of a challenge. There are some great twisty roads to drive on here. Real challenges that bring out the crazies and some 'racers'. The 'Tail of the Dragon' is 318 curves in 11 miles...7 law enforcement departments ride that road. Not a moonshine road to run, for that you need to try highway 90.

Some of us left (fled) England with the return of Charles 2nd after the execution of Charles the 1st, but still remember our history. I could tell you more, but that would expose my 86% German DNA. We try to close the Interstates to keep the unwanted out, but there are too many now and I drift from the thread...sorry all.
