In anticipation of picking up my RCR, I went and got myself a trailer- a nice dual axle, electric brake, 8'x16' flat bed. My dad and I are starting on a road trip to get it TOMORROW!!

Well plans changed when I came home New Year's Day to nothing in my driveway. That's right. It was stolen. Turns out someone else liked it too.

Dad's got a plane ticket, replacing the trailer isn't in the cards right now (yes, it was UNinsured as my ins. co wasn't interested in writing a policy- make that my FORMER ins. co- I switched this weekend), and I have a car I am incredibly anxious to go pick up (just ask Fran- or don't actually because he'll have to stop working on the car to answer the phone). What to do???

I called around to the people I know in town as well as the rental companies to try to find a trailer. One of the people I called was Hershal Byrd. We'd chatted a few times since I moved to town and I'd been to his place to check out his car as well. He always seemed very helpful and I figured he'd have some good ideas.

Well, it was a pretty simple idea. He had a trailer that I could go use. Just swing by and pick it up- except he had to go to the DMV and get a replacement plate for it cause the last guy to borrow it returned it without one. I called the DMV to see if I could do this for him, but no such luck. Friday morning (the next day!), he called me around 11 and said the plate's on and I can pick up the trailer.

At this point, his trailer is actually *in* my garage- where it will be until we are ready to get out of town. I would feel like a big dork if anything were to happen to it.

I know he doesn't post here anymore and rarely stops by to read, but I wanted to publicly say thanks to him.

Thanks Hersh!

I have the utmost respect for Hersh! That cannot be understated and, while he and I didn't always see eye-to-eye on everything (but we did see eye-to-eye on almost everything), I miss his presence here. Hersh is one of those people who will do anything he can to help someone out and the world could use more people like that.

When you return the trailer, Chris, please tell Hersh that many here do miss him and would welcome him back with open arms.

Lynn
