UK Competition Roll Cages

Hi guys,

I am discussing the specs for a full cage for my P4 and the fabricator is struggling with the MSA specified triangulation element of the cage in the limited space available.

I have not noticed any pics of the UK GT40 folks' cars that appear to have the required element in their cages. If that is so, how do you guys get through scrutineering? Or do you have a removable bolt in part of the cage for when you are racing?

Hi Mark -

Many of the GTDs competing in Sprints/Hillclimbs do not have cages that would suffice for circuit racing. The regs were different some time back and it was possible to meet the reqirements with some simple rear stays that triangulated from the internal rollover hoop, to the rear side sponson chassis rails. (hope that made sense)

Current MSA regs have changed somewhat and for circuit racing, I'm fairly positive you require a diagonal. It is all detailed in the MSA Blue Book.

Not sure how far along you are with this but I can heartily recommend the services of Andy Robinson ARRC Roll cages - A very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful chap who produces top notch work...

Andy sits on a couple of MSA committees (drag racing orientated mainly) but knows his FIA/MSA cage structures inside out. He has worked on a good number of Revival cars and has pictures of cages in genuine 40's on his web site. He has just installed a complete FIA/MSA cage for me in a more modern car which is excellent. Not the cheapest but could easily be up there with the best.

Thanks guys. I will get in touch with Andy and see what he would suggest before going any further with the current plans.
