UN1 oil cooler lines

Ha All,
I need a little input from those of you that have done this before, If you look at the pictures attached you can see that I added my cooler line fittings to the trans. I re taped the drain hole to 8 AN and added the crown wheel fitting, but what I would like to know is what is the best location for the fitting that oils the 5th gear on the last picture of the back cover? Any help or pictures would be greatly appreciated .

Hello Bob,

Top of the back cover to spit oil directly on the primeshaft is a good place. But as far as I can see, your back cover is a very old one as it doesn't have the little oil input to drain oil in the primeshaft. This modification appeared in 85-86 if I remember well as was the result of many primeshafts broken because of a real lack of lubrification. So your gearbox (or if you are lucky only your back cover) should have been casted before this era.

Also, the outlet is not at its optimal place under the diff as you placed an inlet above this era. This will not give a flow in the whole gearbox and worst you will have hot and cold areas in.

The best place for the outlet is obviously at half the way from your 2 inlets. If you intend to run it hard, you can also remove the magnet inside as it restricts the flow and much when it begins to have some steel dust on it. Having the magnet outside allows you to keep an eye on the real health of your gearbox if you install it in a place where you can have acces to it.
