Steve, why would you need to change from a R30 to a version of UN1? Having both boxes apart on my workbench at the moment, there are very few internal differences. First, the gear selector internally, is different, there are a few new casting supports here and there but the big difference is the R30 box has a 4-spider differential unit. Most of the UN1 boxes have only 2, including the R21Turbo that has the 3.44 FD. The R30 or 369 as it is known, is a '70's gearbox and some of the new ideas have found their way into the UN1, (eg: improved oiling on overhanging 5th gear bearing).
The bellhousing is different for all models, eg: the V6's to the 4s. There are differences in the mounting bosses cast on the sides of the box as well, depending on the version of car it was in. And of course the shifter is a wee bit different, but it would actually be an easy swap if necessary.

Bruce / any one... I am helping a friend convert a Heron from a Rover engine / Skoda gearbox over to a Rover / UNI 1 combination. Does any body have a CAD drawing of a UNI 1 gear box face and shaft dimensions / protusion etc.

Russell. There are several manufacturers in the UK who make such a bellhousing. I think Tornado Cars would one on the shelf, he posts on here regularly so check there. There is also another guy in the UK who posts on here who does them.
There is a guy in Waihi who also makes specialist bellhousing conversion kits, but hes usually expensive for 1-offs.
With a bit of skill you can make your own drawings of the Rover end and the Renault Bellhousing end. The standard input shaft is just litterly 'sitting there', so if you are keen, get a new one made with the splines cut for the clutch you will be using. Thing is, Renault used the same gearbox, but changed the bellhousing for the different engines it used the 'box in. eg: the V6 bellhousing is different from the R20, and again the R30. So you would have to specify which housing you are using.
