Actual immigration

Your post implied that immigration was through the roof. Actually its way down since BushII.

It's immigration along with population growth due to births from all population, immigration has been about the same since 2003. With projected growth it will be through the roof.

Are either of you factoring in all the I-L-L-E-G-A-L "immigrants" who've flooded the country???

The way things are going, we could have 437 million of them alone by 2050.

The chart is for legal immigration. The recession reduced the numbers because LEGAL people come here for jobs and there were less of them both and the numbers haven't grown much in the BOB recovery. Worst recovery in history by the way.

On the other hand the illegal group comes here for the free ride demo giveaways and that number is going through the roof.

Howie, I'm pritty sure the chart is for net immigration, Census Data, if it were for illegal immigration thats what it would have said.

I wonder how you would chart illegal immigration, how would you know?

Howie, illegals do not quality for the "free ride demo giveaway" do they?

Howard, why did your relatives came to America?

Did they come for the "free ride demo diveaway"?

Steve,

Give us an example, an acatual case of a person getting a free ride. Not "stories" from the right wing media, but a real example of someone who qualifies, why they qualified and what the "free ride" includes.

I'm not Howard, and I'm not in California, but I can give you an example from personal experience.

My field of specialization is Special Education. It has been my observation that here in TX we have had a huge increase in the numbers of undocumented immigrants who have come here to the U.S. because their children have special needs and there is little in the way of special education in Mexico. Those parents come to the U.S. for the generous nature of our special education laws...by definition FAPE (Free and Appropriate Public Education) is FREE...and those undocumented immigrants are certainly taking all they can get from our country in terms of special services. The ones I see here most have the most severely impacted children...and those, by the very nature of their delays in development, need the most expensive of services, such as physical/occupational/vision type therapies as well as expensive adaptive equipment and transportation services. The parents pay absolutely nothing for these expensive services and I have had many of them admit that they moved to the U.S. because their only option in Mexico was to pay out-of-pocket for those services, which obviously they could not afford.

The only thing those parents have to pay for is the sort of thing that students without disabilities would have to pay for...book replacement if a text is lost, that sort of thing.

This is a "pattern" that is only going to get worse...and cost more and more as more move here...and the fact that our insane "Governor Good-Hair" Rick Perry REFUSED multiple millions of $$ in Federal Education Funds just because he wanted to thumb Texas's nose at the current Democratic administration's requirements (which, BTW, Texas has to meet, anyway) hasn't helped one bit.

California would have to meet the same Federal education mandates...but, I'd imagine with the burgeoning immigrant population in California, there must be other "Gimmie" type programs that are not education related...

Cheers!

Doug

Jim, the words that are misspelled, acatual, actual, are underlined in red, right click and the correct spelling or options come up. Spell check was added to this forum a while ago.

Al,

None of those words are underlined in red, but Al, if you can't understand a word, just ask, I'd be glad to expain them to you.

When you typed acatual as I just did, it is underlined after you type it and before you submit your reply. Just trying to help, not being a wiseass. I believe this is an automatic spellcheck of the forum, not something you need to turn on.

Doug,

Thats interesting, but I don't think education falls under "free ride giveaway"...

Guess I misunderstood what the reference to "Free" involved.

It is only Special Education that is required "Free" by the Department of Education...however, general education is generally provided "free" with the exception of some ancillary services...transportation would be a good example...while the LEA (Local Education Agency) is required to provide transportation, there is no requirement that the service be free and many districts do charge a small fee if the parents want their children to ride the school bus.

There is a provision in the law to allow for special education services under what is called "504" eligibility...many of those students have been diagnosed with dyslexia and are in general education reading improvement programs for that disorder. However, when issues like special therapies and transportation are involved, the reality is that there is no Federal funding for "504" services, only for Special Education services, so the powers-that-be in the education system attempt to get Special Education eligibility whenever possible to help pay for the expensive services...remember, by law those services must be provided FREE to students with educational handicaps.

Sorry if I misunderstood the issue at hand...:embarassed:

Cheers!

Al, no words here on my PC or on my ipad have ever been underlined. What ever program you have, does not work on either of mine.

My email does have that red underline thing, but not GT40s.com.
