Pete, my first significant drive was 20kms in the rain (no option) - I got no water inside at all - even thru all the traffic lights in Sydney.
However, when I washed it with the hose, etc, all manner of little pools appeared !
Like some watches & cameras, I think the 40's are just "water resistant" !!
Also I guess, more speed = less puddles in the car !
