Window crank knob

I'm searching for advice on the best method of connecting a metal knob to a window crank. I want the operation to be smooth but also for the knob to be durable enough that it's not going to separate from the crank handle. Any advice on the best design? I'm planning to custom make a few cranks for vintage mustangs but want to work out the mechanism first.

Although the fastener was always visible, I preferred the allen bolt in the center of the crank itself and the same could be done from the crank to the knob, only from the inside. A drop of blue loc-tite will keep things from going loose.
